Youth Soccer is a popular choice for kids who want to be active and learn to develop their skills as a soccer player. Players will be assigned to teams by MPRD. Teams will consist of a mixture of players from various schools. Boys and Girls will be in separate leagues if participation numbers permit. Only head coaches' children will be assigned to specific teams. Shinguards are required for all practices and games. No jewelry is allowed for all practices and games Season consists of 7 games scheduled by Manhattan Parks and Recreation.Games will begin no later than the week of March 27, 2017 and tentatively end by May 11, 2017.Games are played weekday evenings (*Mondays thru Thursdays) starting at 6:00 or 7:00Games will be played at Anneberg Soccer Complex or Griffith Park.Practices will begin no later than the week of March 7, 2016.Coaches are responsible for scheduling practice dates, times and locations.Coaches will notify players by phone/email of team assignment and practice schedule. PLEASE CONSIDER BEING A COACH FOR YOUR CHILD'S TEAM.Coaches are volunteers, often parents or college students.Coaches must attend coaches meeting and complete the National Youth Sports Coaches Association (NYSCA) on-line training/certification.Questions? Includes eight games per team (played as doubleheaders if possible). Each team will travel no more than twice during the season to play a doubleheader (if possible). *Teams must provide their own equipment and uniforms. *Fee does not include KSYSA sanction. *Four game schedules also available if requested.*Games will be played on weekdays and weekends starting March 25 through May 21. *Traveling teams will only play weekends. *Games played at Anneberg Park, the Sunflower Soccer Association and Salina Soccer Complex.*Games shall be governed by KSYSA Youth Soccer Regulations. Manhattan Parks and Recreation, in cooperation with the Manhattan High School soccer program, is offering a Spring Break Soccer Clinic. The MHS Boy's Soccer Coach, Frank Alonso and MHS Girl's Soccer Coach, Mike Sanchez, along with their coaching staff and varsity players, will be conducting the clinic.
