In the throws of new motherhood, finding time to connect with others, remaining inspired as a mother, and expressing yourself are real challenges. In this class, centered around basic and fun drama activities (story-telling, games, warm ups, mindfulness etc), find a new connection to self, baby, and other new moms.
Instructor Bio: Rachael Hammer hails from the West Coast where she studied theatre. Shortly after her conservatory experience she had her own child and the pilot of Baby Mama Drama. Now with a year of Graduate Studies in Theatre/Drama Therapy under her belt, she hopes to offer Baby Mama Drama to Manhattan moms looking for a fun new way to connect through theatre based activities.

Students are introduced to basic beginning techniques and vocabulary. All classes run 45 minutes and are held at the City Park Roundhouse.

FALL SHOWCASE: SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 18 AT 7:00 PM IN PEACE MEMORIAL (CITY) AUDITORIUM

Pre-Ballet: Ballet is the basis for all dance training, and our Pre-Ballet classes help children develop and improve their poise, flexibility, grace, self-discipline, and posture. Students will be introduced to basic beginning ballet techniques and vocabulary. Ballet slippers or socks may be worn for this class.

Beginning Ballet: This class emphasizes technique, barre work and choreography, as well as ballet vocabulary. Students will develop and improve their poise, flexibility, grace, self-discipline, and posture. Ballet slippers are required.

Beginning Hip Hop: In Hip Hop, students will be introduced to the basic concepts, techniques, and choreography of Hip Hop Dance and culture. Wear tennis shoes and socks.

Dance Squad: This class incorporates various dance styles (hip hop, jazz, contemporary) with basic tumbling, pompom, and cheer. Wear tennis shoes. Pompoms will be provided.

Beginning Tap: Tap is a form of dance that uses the tap shoes striking the floor to make percussive sound. This class will explore both Jazz and Broadway-style tap. Be prepared for a workout as we explore rhythm and build strength! Students will need to purchase tap shoes for this class.

Instructors will give further information about proper attire at the first class meeting.
In order to promote a learning environment free of the distractions of parents/siblings, a “sneak peek week” has been established during the week of October 16. At this time you will be able to observe the progress of your dance student. During other times, please wait for your child outside. Have your child use the restroom before his/her class begins. Also, check the bulletin board inside for announcements and other important information. Thank you for your cooperation!
